SERVICING
You are not obliged (since October 2003) to get your car serviced by a franchise dealer during the warranty period.
You must though get it serviced according to the manufacturer's recommended schedule and criteria using only manufacturer approved parts, to comply with warranty

New MOT regulations come into force this year in the first major overhaul in five years. The changes to the rules mean it will be harder than before for vehicles to pass their MOT test.
Vehicles are to be put through tougher emissions tests and faults rated in three defect categories.
New ‘Minor’, ‘Major’ and ‘Dangerous’ categories that will be applied to all cars in order to meet the European Union Roadworthiness Package,
